  • Rustic refers to knots and other imperfections. Most wood species are available as rustic or clear (no knots). Rustic is generally more inexpensive since a wider grade of wood is used. Rustic pieces can have the knots left open or filled with an epoxy. Knots left open are not greater than 1” in diameter and do not go all the way through the board.

Burnsville’s history is rich and multifaceted, beginning with its earliest inhabitants, the Mdewakanton Dakota people. Around 1750, Chief Black Dog established a village near the present-day Black Dog Lake, a site that played a significant role in the area’s early history. In the mid-19th century, European settlers, primarily Irish, Scottish, and Norwegian, arrived, transforming the area into a rural farming community. One notable settler, William Byrne, immigrated from Ireland and settled in the region in 1855. Byrne contributed significantly to the community by donating land for a church, school, and cemetery, and serving as the town chairman. The township, initially known as Byrnsville, was officially established in 1858. Over time, the name evolved to Burnsville due to clerical errors in record-keeping. The arrival of the railroad in 1864 and the construction of Interstate 35W in the 1960s spurred significant growth, transforming Burnsville into a thriving suburban city. Today, Burnsville is known for its diverse community, robust economy, and commitment to preserving its rich history.
